Douglas Henshall is back as DI Jimmy Perez in BBC’s crime drama Shetland which is now airing its seventh series. This season will be the actor’s last so fans are sitting on the edge of their seats, eager to find out how his story ends. Viewers are also keen to know more about the man behind Jimmy when he isn’t in front of the camera.
Who is the Shetland star Douglas Henshall married to?
Shetland actor Douglas Henshall is married to playwright and screenwriter Tena Štivičić.
She was behind The World’s Greatest Monster in 2003 and most recently in 2020, Tena wrote The Importance of Being Honest.
Henshall’s wife has also doubled in some acting over the years, including roles in The Third Woman and Is It Clear, My Friend?
Tena, who is originally from Croatia, studied Drama Art in her home country before moving to London to study writing for performance.

Henshall also opened up about his wife Tena and what makes their relationship tick.
“She’s brighter than me and I like that, though it does drive me nuts sometimes when she reminds me of it!” he said.
“We’re both passionate, stubborn people, both strong-willed, so we clash from time to time. It’s nice to have someone who challenges me.”
Shetland will continue this evening, Wednesday, August 17, for the second instalment.
