Drake fans unhappy with ticket prices at upcoming Toronto shows

The concert many Torontonians have been waiting for is finally happening, but at what cost?

After announcing his “It’s All A Blur” Tour in mid-March, rapper Drake left no confirmation dates for Toronto. On Monday, it was announced Drizzy has added two concert dates for his hometown on Oct. 5 and 7 at Scotiabank Arena.

Tickets for both concert dates went on sale on April 28 , while pre-sale tickets went on sale the day before at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.

Many fans made their way to social media to express anger about the absurd pricing for tickets. Prices for pre-sale tickets ranged from $300 to more than $1000 for nosebleeds and lower bowl tickets reaching the above the $500 mark.

Videos and screenshots flooded social media platforms with fans also speaking out their frustration about the Ticketmaster website crashing, or seeing the message: “SORRY ANOTHER FAN BEAT YOU TO THESE TICKETS SO THEY’RE NO LONGER AVAILABLE”.

Some fans are even calling out Drake’s loyalty to the city he claims to hold close to his heart.

Toronto is not the only city expected to be apart of Drake’s tour route. Drake will be performing in Vancouver on August 28 and 29 and Montreal on July 14 and 15.

This comes after a class-action lawsuit that began this past March against Ticketmaster arguing they intentionally mislead consumers for their own financial gain. The suit alleges Tickermaster was aware of Drake adding a second concert date in Montreal, withholding this information in order to “squeeze-out” as much money from fans as possible.

Drake will kick off his ‘It’s All A Blur’ tour on June 29 in Memphis. This will be his first time going on tour in four years.
