A bizarre new “dream job” is offering one candidate more than £13 per hour to watch and rank episodes of hit TV series Derry Girls.

Meanwhile in Ireland, which describes itself as an Irish news and media platform “covering everything from pop culture and bizarre headlines to travel and satire” are currently hiring for the unique position.

The search for an official Derry Girls TV Critic was launched by the site on February 13, seeking someone to watch and review every episode of the iconic series.

The successful candidate will remotely work on a flexible, short-term schedule to create the “ultimate” guide to the TV series.

Derry Girls follows the lives of teens from the city in Northern Ireland as they venture through their primitive years at Our Lady Immaculate College in Londonderry.

The popular Channel 4 series, created by Northern Irish screenwriter Lisa McGee, helped highlight Derry and the issues of the Troubles.

It came to an end on May 18 with a special extended episode, which featured a surprise cameo appearance from Chelsea Clinton.

Meanwhile in Ireland’s listing reads: “With a thriving team of Irish writers at its helm, this is an excellent opportunity for a budding critic to join a young and dynamic team.

“Working for an ever-growing media platform, the candidate will contribute to one of Ireland’s most popular websites on one of Ireland’s most beloved subjects: Derry Girls.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous experience as a critic or who wants to build their portfolio,” it adds.

The ideal candidate for the gig is someone knowledgeable of TV and film, and a “Derry Girls fanatic” – alongside being analytical and observant, fluent in English, and “partial to the craic”.

The closing date for applications is March 10 and other details can be found here.
