Driver calls for warden to ‘ticket the b*****s’ after school parking chaos

A frustrated driver has taken to social media to ask others whether she should report parents at her child’s school for breaking traffic rules.

Writing on Mumsnet, the concerned motorist said other cars were not stopping at zebra crossings despite being near a school.

She explained how she was “sick to death” of parents parking on the zig zag lines outside the school which is on a one way narrow street.

While acknowledging that some motorists may have hidden disabilities, she said that the zigzag lines were there for a reason and people should not park there.

White zig zag lines are used to indicate that parking and overtaking are strictly forbidden, with the same rules applying to yellow zig zag lines outside schools, hospitals and fire stations.

They are there to provide pedestrians, children, parents and staff have a clear, unobstructed view of the road.

The driver continued, saying: “The headteacher asks them to move (and apologises for doing so).

“Would I be unreasonable to surreptitiously take photos and report them to who? The local police? The council?

“I want a traffic warden to make this his regular route and ticket the b*****s. Or at least deter them for a while.”

The driver said she only picks her children up twice a week so her “blood pressure isn’t raised every day”.

Many in the comments were supportive of the driver’s actions, saying the other parents should be safe when near a school on a narrow road.

One commenter said: “No you are not being unreasonable. I have a hidden disability as does my son and we do not park on zig zags etc.

“We park a little further away and take our time getting along the road to the school. There is no excuse whatsoever so yes report it.”

One motorist suggested taking photos of the drivers and their actions and send them to the local council, saying that in their case a warden was sent down to enforce the signage and rules.

This resulted in a number of tickets being handed out, with an “immediate 100 percent improvement”, with safety being improved.

The original poster then updated the thread, explaining how she would be “prepared to become a nuisance for a while” and make enquiries to protect pedestrians and other drivers.
