Drivers ‘opting out of petrol and diesel’ with EV price improving

At the height of the fuel price chaos last year, some forecourts were selling petrol for almost 20p cheaper in some areas, causing massive queues across the UK.

While prices are still high, and Britons continue to deal with the cost of living crisis, the AA is hopeful that drivers will be able to make the most of their fuel as the weather gets better.

In the warmer, summer weather, fuel efficiency is increased, with sunlight helping to offset some of the price increases seen by many drivers.

Mr Bosdet added: “As the AA ramps up its tracking of electric vehicle charging costs, it is clear that ‘fuel’ costs of switching to an EV are becoming much more attractive, even with ultra-rapid charging on the open road.
