Duleep Trophy: Cheteshwar Pujara hits cracking hundred to put West Zone in command vs Central Zone

The Saurashtra has been dropped from the India Test squad after his twin failures in the WTC final. He was dropped from the side last year as well before he made his comeback through stellar performances in county cricket.

Pujara, who was unbeaten on 50 off 103 balls at the end of Day 2, added 42 runs when the teams went for lunch on Day 3. He soon brought up his hundred in the post-lunch season.

At the time rain interrupted the game at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur, Pujara was unbeaten on 132 off 266 balls. The innings from Pujara has seen him hit 14 fours and a six. He could add just one run after the play resumed and was run out for 133 off 278 balls.

The innings from Pujara has helped West Zone take a very handy 384-run lead in the second innings. The Priyank Panchal-led side ended Day 3 on 292/9. Pujara partnered for 95 runs with Suryakumar Yadav (52) for the third wicket and kept scoring runs despite wickets falling from the other end.

The 35-year-old scored 28 runs off 102 balls in the first innings. South Zone were five down for 65 when Pujara stitched a crucial 45-run partnership with Atit Sheth who went on to score 74 runs.

Central Zone were bundled out for 128 in the first innings and they will find winning very difficult from here.
