EA Sports Closes Deal with Premier League; Worth Close to £500m

0

EA Sports has closed several deals with multiple sports leagues. Last year, we saw how EA signed with Juventus FC to have the Italian Club return to FIFA 23 and other Sports titles published by the massive western company. This time, a new deal was closed between EA Sports and Premier League in which the 20 clubs associated with the latter will still be associated when it comes to its exclusive electronic license.

The deal is worth £480 Million, a sum that’s stated to be worth more than double the existing deal between EA Sports and the Premier League. This news was learned recently by Sky News which announced that the 20 Premier League clubs were briefed at a meeting during this week’s Friday that this new deal extension will go on for the next six years.

Of course, it’s hard to ignore the reason behind the partnerships that Electronic Arts has been making under its EA Sports division. That is the recent separation between EA and FIFA which will culminate with a name change for the football soccer series of games. The new name for the series after this entry will be known as EA Sports FC, as stated before.

The FIFA license may be gone, but EA Sports FC will still bring 300+ individual licensed partners, bringing licenses for 19,000+ athletes across 700 teams in 100 stadiums and 30+ leagues globally. As such, some of the veteran players may not notice a difference between this upcoming game and the previous entry, FIFA 23.

What’s going to happen to FIFA? Hard to say. The Football association has recently stated that after the closure of the deal it had with EA, it already had signed several partnerships with other companies for the development of non-simulation games and simulation games. So, we might see some new FIFA games in the future as well to compete with EA Sports FC in the future.
