Eamonn Holmes gushes with pride as he celebrates granddaughter’s christening

Eamonn Holmes shared a happy snap from granddaughter Emilia’s christening and described the day as a ‘lovely family gathering’

Eamonn Holmes looked the picture of happiness as she shared a sweet snap from his granddaughter’s christening.

The TV presenter, 61, became a grandfather for the first time in July when his 32-year-old son Declan welcomed baby Emilia.

Eamonn beamed with pride in the image as shared to Instagram on Sunday as he stood with his wife Ruth Langsford, Declan, his son’s wife Jenny, and little Emilia.

He proudly captioned the post: “Emilia , my First Grandchild Christened today. Lovely family gathering including adoring parents Declan & Jenny.”

Declan is the presenter’s son from his first marriage to Gabrielle Holmes. He also shares daughter Rebecca, 30, and son Niall, 28, with his ex.

He shares 19-year-old son Jack with his current wife Ruth.

Eamonn excitedly announced he had become a grandfather while he was presenting This Morning. He said at the time that he couldn’t wait to meet the youngster.

Speaking alongside Ruth live on air, he said: “My son Declan and his wife Jenny are the happy couple. Jenny gave birth to Emilia, who is 7lbs 6oz.”

He later went on to share an adorable image of his son and the tot. He captioned the black and white image: “My First born Son Declan with his first born and my first Grandchild Emilia. Welcome to The World Emilia. Just call me Papa.”

The latest pic comes after Eamonn contracted Covid-19 and was forced to sit out of several public appearances.

He apologised for pulling out of the event late last month and said that while he was ill and self isolating, he was thankful that he had been double dabbed.

In his message on Twitter, he wrote: “Covid finally caught me. Thankfully I’m Double jabbed. More than Half way through my isolation and coping with the symptoms and effects well. Unfortunately I’m going to be a No Show for some Professional & Personal events. Just want to let everyone know why & offer my apologies.”

He is clearly back in good spirits and the christening follows his recent outing at the premiere for the film Belfast in Northern Ireland’s capital city.

He was back on home soil for the movie showing and looked to be enjoying his night as he made his way down the red carpet in his home city having completed his isolation period.
