Eamonn Holmes has shared an update on his health telling his Twitter followers he hopes to walk “unaided” very soon.

Writing to his one million Twitter followers earlier today, Eamonn shared: “Saturdays …. I used to love them. They used to mean Football. Now they mean Gym.

“Heavy Rehabilitation scheduled every Saturday in particular to strengthen my legs and back to hopefully get me walking unaided again….. but I just don’t like it . Wish me well.”

The 63-year-old was overwhelmed by countless well wishes in the comments, with fans also thanking the news anchor for sharing his recovery after his appearance at the TRIC awards last week.

Eamonn sparked some concern as he appeared on the red carpet with crutches in both arms last week Tuesday.

The broadcaster and his GB News team were presented with the Multichannel News Programme award later in the evening but struggled to get to the stage.

Eamonn, who slowly walked up alongside his costar Isabel Webster, apologised when he got to the microphone, telling the crowd: “Sorry that took a while, discs in my back, look after your back guys.”

In September last year the broadcaster underwent surgery to help with his chronic pain, which he had been suffering from for over a year due to three slipped discs after dislocating his pelvis in 2021.

While he was recovering from the surgery, the star had a terrible accident and fell backwards down a staircase at home, leaving him with a fractured shoulder.

The news anchor has been able to return to his breakfast show with Isabel but his public appearance have often been accessorised with crutches and canes to help him walk.

Eamonn has been candid about his “hellish” recovery from both the original operation and the injuries from his fall, keeping fans duly updated on Twitter.

The GB News star has also been vocal on the recent scandal that rocked ITV’s This Morning programme when Phillip Schofield revealed he had had a relationship with a much younger runner on the show.

Although This Morning was also nominated for some TRIC awards, its stars Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond were absent.
