The announcement came hours after East Bengal sacked their head coach Stephen Constantine, who joined them ahead of the 2022-23 season. After a poor season, the club parted ways with the English coach.
They initially had their eyes on Sergio Lobera but failed to land the Spaniard. Instead, East Bengal turned their attention to Cuadrat and have managed to acquire the highly-rated Cuadrat, who also is of Spanish nationality.
Cuadrat will be joining them with a host of experience in Indian football having previously worked at Bengaluru FC. He joined Bengaluru in 2016 as an assistant to Albert Roca and helped them winning the Federation Cup and the first edition of the Super Cup.
Cuadrat has joined the club on a two-year contract, which means his current contract will expire at the end of 2024-25 season.

Cuadrat was the manager of Bengaluru when they won their maiden ISL title in the 2018-19 season. He has since coached in Cyprus with Aris Limassol and was recently employed by Danish club FC Midtjylland as an assistant coach.
“I am delighted to return to India, a country that I love dearly and where I have had many happy moments. I will work with all my might to create new moments of happiness with the huge fan base of the club across the globe and hope to witness the stands at the stadiums filled with Red & Gold,” Cuadrat said after the East Bengal announcement.
The Spaniard is a La Masia graduate and has played in the Barcelona youth teams during his playing days. The 54-year-old has also served as an assistant coach at the international level with Saudi Arabia and El Salvador.
He will be tasked with a massive mission at the Kolkata club. Since joining ISL in 2020, East Bengal have never reached the playoff stages. The Spanish coach will be aiming to use his experience and bring the glory days back at the century-old Indian club.
