The result cast shadow over the quality of East Bengal’s youth squad to go all the way in the Calcutta Football League for another record-winning title as East Bengal forwards lacked the poaching instinct in front of the goal despite the presence of talented forwards in Kush Chhetry, Bunando Singh, Avishek Kunjam among others.
The midfield is bolster by presence of Sauvik Chakraborti, whose passing game against Kidderpore SC in 2-0 also earned him Man of the match. Prior to that, East Bengla defeated West Bengal Police 4-2 after conceding a two-goal lead.
Sarthak Golui has been a key presence in the heart of the East Bengal’s 4-5-1 formation too as the player contributes in the build-up of the game with his range of passing and vision. Apart from the two experienced duo, the presence of Lijo K and Aman CK have been vital as Tuhin Das is unavailable for the game after seeing a red card in the game against BSS Sporting.
Eastern Railway, on the other hand, are down at the 12th spot in the 13-club Group B with just 1 point in four games. They have conceded eight goals in four games while scoring just half of that in return.
They lost their opening match against Bhawanipur 0-2 followed by a 1-2 loss to Railway FC 1-2. Sagar Khamrui’s equaliser against Rainbow AC earned Railways their first point but was followed by a 2-3 loss to Aryan Club.
