EASYJET has been accused of hiding behind small print to cancel car hire booking but keep the rental fees.
It comes after the airline refused to pay flight delay compensation after thunderstorms caused disruption.
Now we can reveal the budget carrier has been blasted for leaving car hire customers stranded without vehicles while pocketing their cash.
One punter arrived slightly late for a two-hour booking slot at Brindisi airport in Italy only to be told their £650 car rental had been cancelled and no refund would be issued.
When contacted, easyJet blamed it on terms and conditions for no-shows imposed by its partner Car Trawler.
Tanya Roberts, 42, of Redhill in Surrey, said: “I want to warn people not to get ripped off this summer like we did.”
Other passengers have reported similar hire cancellation issues.
Janette Johnson said on the Trustpilot review site that her booking was axed because her first name was not in full on her credit card — and was then charged “four times the cost to make a new booking”.
Edward Lee also says he paid twice for the same reason.
In Tanya’s case, Car Trawler eventually gave a refund after we contacted easyJet.
The airline said it was “disappointed to hear about the family’s experience”.
Car Trawler referred us to its terms and conditions on late arrivals.
