Eddie Hall has sent a warning message to Thor Bjornsson after their rescheduled fight was finally confirmed.
Hall and Bjornsson have been preparing to face each other for over a year with their previous fight date cancelled after Hall suffered a detached bicep injury.
The former world’s strongest man winners will finally step into the ring together in an event that has been branded as the ‘heaviest match in boxing history’.
After waiting since last September, Bjornsson and Hall will meet on March 19 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.
Hall confirmed the fight on Instagram issuing his long term rival with a warning : “The wait is finally over! March 19, it’s game over for Thor. Tickets and viewing information coming soon. Big Love. Team Beast.”
Bjornsson has stepped into the ring three times; against arm wrestling champion Devon Larratt, as well as in two exhibition bouts with professional boxers Steven Ward and Simon Valily.
The Icelandic star was dropped by Valily during that exhibition bout, but has impressed many in the sport with his quick ability to learn.
He fared much better against Larratt in a real mismatch, using his power to bully his way to an opening round stoppage after the referee stepped in.
And upon announcing the fight, he said: “The wait is finally over…I will be stepping into the ring on March 19 in Dubai to face Eddie. It’s been a long journey, almost two whole years from the day I announced this fight.
“It hasn’t always been easy but I’ve loved every minute of it. I’m extremely excited and looking forward for this day to finally come.
Bjornsson has been training with Scottish coach Billy Nelson in the UK and has been working hard after losing 120lbs to make himself in shape to take to the boxing ring.
Who will win- Eddie Hall or Thor Bjornsson? Let us know in the comments section below
Bjornsson is extremely confident of competing with his rival and has vowed to settle their differences with an early stoppage.
“I think I’ll knock him out in the third or fourth round,” Bjornsson proclaimed while speaking with iFL TV about the fight.
“I’m not too worried about when or how, I’ve said it in silly action when we’re talking but I’m not too worried about when.
“I’m just focused on me, focused on getting as good as possible, and people can make predictions on how they’re going to win fights.
“But at the end of the day when you’re in the ring things can change very fast and you have to be quick to adjust even though you have a game plan because it might not work.
“I’m putting in a lot of time, a lot of effort, a lot of work and sometimes you don’t really see it yourself but I can definitely feel and see it slowly but surely coming together.”
