Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren agree over Tyson Fury Anthony Joshua bout

Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren have agreed they will still try to facilitate a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, despite the fact the Gypsy King announced the bout was off. Discussions took place on Monday over a mega-money showdown between the British heavyweights in Cardiff on December 3. But Fury then ruled out an encounter as Joshua hadn’t signed the contract by the 5pm deadline.

“Well guys, it’s official,” Fury said on Instagram after the deadline passed. “D-day has come and gone. It has gone past five o’clock Monday, no contract has been signed. It’s officially over for Joshua. It’s now out in the cold with the wolfpack.

“Forget about it, idiot, coward, s*******, bodybuilder, always knew it. Always knew you didn’t have the minerals to fight the Gypsy King. Regardless of what the f*** you say now I don’t really care. Good luck with your career and your life, end of. Peace out.”

Fury’s promoter Warren was keeping an open mind about the showdown later in the evening when he spoke to talkSPORT, however, as he explained: “We’re trying to get it done by today. We’re working very hard to get it over the line. If everyone agreed everything, it would be a huge undertaking – but we could do it that way.

“They’ve got the contract, they’ve got to come back to us now. There’s been a lot of conversations but they’ve not come back. My son George spoke to the other side and said they’d get it back, so we’re waiting for it still. We keep pushing it back. We’re not that far away from December 3. We’ve got to get it up on sale. The venue’s booked but there’s a lot of organisation involved.”

And when Warren’s comments were promoted on Twitter, Joshua’s promoter Hearn replied: “I agree with Frank.” So it remains to be seen whether the fight will ultimately go ahead.
