Pride of Britain: Molly-Mae backs Tommy Fury to win Jake Paul fight

Eddie Hearn has admitted he has a hunch that Jake Paul could defeat Tommy Fury when the pair meet.

Fury finally had his long-awaited clash with the American YouTuber confirmed for December 18 in Florida.

And the test will be the biggest examination of his career to date having won all of his seven professional fights against low-ranked opposition.

But Matchroom Boxing promoter Hearn has claimed he has a “terrible feeling” that Paul will record victory in America.

Hearn told his fans on an Instagram Live: “I have got a terrible feeling that Jake Paul might win.”

Fury has made strong predictions in his own ability ahead of the fight while vowing to end the YouTube star’s short boxing career.

While Paul has expressed his own desire to fight a “real boxer” in order to prove his credentials after fighting former MMA fighters Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.

But Hearn has admitted that the pressure is on Fury and that he should consider relocating to a “desert island” if he is to suffer his first defeat.

“I’ve only watched Tommy Fury once in a UK show beating a guy that I could’ve beaten,” Hearn said at a press-conference last weekend. “And then I watched that last fight he was in, the four-rounder against the guy who sparred with Jake.

“Logic and hope would tell you a professional boxer that boxed for a living and was also Tyson Fury ’s brother should never, ever lose to Jake Paul.

“But Jake Paul is not horrific, there’s a lot of pro fighters worse than Jake Paul. I’ve seen them, I’ve had a lot of them on my shows in with young kids coming through.

“But it’s just the most embarrassing thing if he loses that fight. If Tommy loses, is it he’s gotta change his name? He shouldn’t change his name, he should just go to a desert island and just stay there for life.

“Because it would be the most embarrassing thing, but I guess it’s entertainment, at least it’s a fight where you don’t know what’s gonna happen.”

The fight rules have been confirmed for the meeting with the pair set to compete at a catchweight of 192lb, eight pounds lighter than the established cruiserweight limit.

And the duel will take place over eight three-minute rounds which will make the contest the longest of Fury’s career if he is taken the distance.

Fury’s brother Tyson will be flying out to America to help the young star prepare for the big fight, and has sent him a message of congratulations after securing the mega-money contract.

And the stakes have been raised even higher with the pair having agreed a name-change bet for Fury to change his name legally to “Tommy Fumbles” if he is to lose the bout.

Paul has reiterated his plans to take boxing seriously and is planning to become a world champion within the next ten fights before retiring.
