Eddie Hearn has insisted that Derek Chisora is still capable of beating Deontay Wilder if a hypothetical fight between them went past four rounds.
Chisora shared a heavyweight war with Joseph Parker on Saturday night, in which he was floored three times and ultimately lost by unanimous decision.
Following this latest defeat – the 12th of Chisora’s pro career – some have called for the 37-year-old to retire.
Regardless, he has instantly taken to social media to confirm that he will return in 2022.
Chisora tweeted: “F*** retirement. I’ll be back in the summer b****.”
Now attention will turn to who he could face next.
In a media huddle after the show, one reporter posed a question to promoter Hearn about a hypothetical clash between Chisora and Wilder.
Hearn answered: “All Chisora’s losses have come at elite level, and Wilder is elite level.
“Listen, Chisora can beat Wilder.
“If he hits him with a big shot – I tell you what, if that fight goes past four rounds, Chisora wins that fight.
“But he’s gotta get past four rounds and that’s gonna be really dangerous against someone who punches as hard as Wilder.”
