Tyson Fury parties in Vegas after KO’ing Deontay Wilder

Derek Chisora ‘s coach has played down his fighter’s chance of facing Deontay Wilder next after Eddie Hearn suggested the matchup.

Matchroom Boxing boss Hearn listed the fight along with the likes of Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor for his 2022 boxing wishlist.

Chisora suffered his third defeat on the bounce when he was outpointed by former world titleholder Joseph Parker in their rematch earlier this month.

The 37-year-old – who is now without a win in over two years – dismissed claims he should retire after the loss and is planning a return next summer.

Wilder was brutally knocked out by WBC champion Tyson Fury in their epic trilogy fight in October and also refused to hang up his gloves.

And Hearn said the matchup would be an “easy comeback fight” for Wilder.

“Deontay Wilder, we want to see you back in the ring. I’ve got the perfect guy for you – Dereck Chisora,” Hearn told the DAZN Boxing Show.

“Come on, he’s getting on a little bit, he’s coming off three defeats on the spin now. Easy comeback fight for Deontay Wilder. Dereck’s ready.”

And Chisora’s trainer Dave Coldwell replied to Hearn: “Christmas is over. Eddie needs to put the sherry away for another year.”

Hearn backed Chisora to beat Wilder ahead of a potential clash, but only if the fight would go past four rounds.

“All Chisora’s losses have come at elite level, and Wilder is elite level,” he said after Chisora’s last fight.

“Listen, Chisora can beat Wilder. If he hits him with a big shot. I tell you what, if that fight goes past four rounds, Chisora wins that fight.

“But he’s got to get past four rounds and that’s gonna be really dangerous against someone who punches as hard as Wilder.”

Wilder broke his wrist in his loss to Fury, but his trainer Malik Scott said the heavyweight’s recovery is going well and no longer needs a cast for his injury.

And Scott thinks Wilder is in a unique position after his loss to Fury.

“Him and AJ in my opinion will always be a super fight, him and Usyk too. There’s a lot on the table for him,” Scott told ES News.

“He’s just resting, healing and getting back. He’s in good spirits and is smiling from ear to ear. He came in this game and did everything he wanted to do and more.

“The position he’s in after a defeat is a position that most fighters aren’t even in when they win a fight.

“If Deontay Wilder decided not to do this again, look at what he’s done and look at what he’s leaving with, legacy high finance. If he stays, he could become two-time heavyweight champion of the world.”
