Eddie Jones expects the Springboks to give it both barrels

When it comes to the physical contest England coach Eddie Jones expects the Springboks to put in a double-barrelled effort at Twickenham on Saturday.

Jones’ side won the only meeting between the sides since the 2019 World Cup final won by the Springboks but the Aussie coach knows what to expect.

Eddie Jones says England are braced for impact

Eddie Jones believes that the Springboks will turn up and his side will have to execute their gameplan to perfection to come out on top.

“Well, I’ve never seen a Springbok side, not 100 percent at it. For any team playing against them, you just accept that’s the case,” Jones said according to News24.

“It’s like playing against New Zealand, I’ve never seen New Zealand not turn up. I’ve never seen a Springbok team not turn up. That’s just part of the game.

“They’re very similar. They’ve still got three big contests: scrum, lineout maul, and the aerial contest.

“They’re judged by the players’ effort in those areas, how they can test, how combative they are in those areas.

“We know that.

“We know what’s coming, but you have to be good enough to deal with it,” said Eddie Jones.

Neither side have looked as imposing this season as they were back in 2019, but a year out from the next World Cup you can expect things to start to come together.
