El Pollo Loco has begun selling Southern California culture as well as flame-grilled chicken.
The Costa Mesa-based quick service chain has launched what it calls its first online merchandise store selling shirts, hoodies, caps, shorts and tote bags.
Loco Gifts and Gear will be opened to loyalty club members today, Dec. 2, and become available to the public at midnight, according to a news release.
The chain says the merchandise reflect its “L.A. Mex roots,” which means, “SoCal lifestyle meets Mexican heritage.”
The products were created by three local designers.
Muralist David Flores created a surfboard with a lucha libre wrestler as well as the image of a smiling woman with yellow flowers in her braided hair for T-shirts and tote bags.
Surfer Rick Massie, a Venice Beach native, created blue and yellow designs with surfboards and palm trees as a tribute to his hometown.
Manny Silva, owner of Manny’s Bike Shop in Compton, created black-and-gold shirts and hoodies that celebrate lowrider culture.
