Paramedics have rushed several children to hospital after a reported explosion at a Manly school left a class with burn injuries.
Ambulances and helicopters with specialist medical teams on-board rushed to the incident at Manly West Public School that occurred at around 1pm on Monday.
Eleven children aged around 10 years old and one adult were impacted by the “Hazmat incident”, with reports that it was due to a science experiment gone wrong.
One child was rushed to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in the CareFlight helicopter with serious burns.
Another was taken to the same hospital in an ambulance with a specialist medical team treating serious burns.
Five children were taken to Royal North Shore Hospital and four were taken to Northern Beaches Hospital with superficial burns.
The adult patient was not taken to hospital.
More than a dozen paramedics and five police cars are on the scene at the school in Balgowlah, according to 9 News, with both the CareFlight and Toll helicopters also attending.
