Elton Jantjies’ next move

Jantjies signs with immediate effect after putting pen to paper on a contract that takes him through to the end of the 2023/24 season.

“Very happy to welcome Elton Jantjies this season and in 23/24. High quality support and experience for our young players. Can’t wait to see him wear the colours of Agen,” The club president Jean-Francois Fonteneau tweeted.

Jantjies also already has experience of playing in France.

He made three appearances for Pau in the Top 14 in the spring of 2021 as a loanee from the Lions.

Jantjies has not played a rugby match since his last Springbok cap against Australia on August 27 — he was left out of the squad that is touring the Northern hemisphere.

Elton Jantjies and Zeenat Simjee affair: What we know

This came after media reports emerged about an alleged affair with the team dietician, Zeenat Simjee.

While he initially dismissed the claims as being untrue it has been suggested that he has since confessed to the affair in discussions with his wife.

Jantjies also denied reports he had spent time in a drug rehabilitation clinic. He would however admit he had instead checked into a rehabilitation centre in Cape Town due to rugby injuries and to treat his insomnia.

At the moment, the Springboks don’t have the issue of being forced to make a call on Jantjies as he isn’t match-fit but SA Rugby are facing renewed calls to take action against Zeenat Simjee.
