Emmerdale fans seem to think they have worked out who Jai Sharma’s (played by Chris Bisson) real parents are following the bombshell last week.
During Friday’s instalment, Jai and Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) clashed over knowing Rishi’s (Bhasker Patel) secret.
“I spoke to your father,” Manpreet said as Jai raged: “Are you sure you’re allowed to tell me?”
“You’re obviously referring to the rather big news you’ve received,” the doctor went on.
Jai hit back: “I didn’t receive it, I discovered it, and yes I am. But more specifically about the fact you knew about it and didn’t tell me.”
Manpreet defended: “Your father has told me everything that he’s told you. I don’t know what more there is to say.”
Jai got angrier as he continued: “Father, that’s the second time you’ve said that. It’s hard to stop lying once you’ve started, isn’t it?”
Manpreet argued Rishi was his father before Jai interrupted: “Except in the way that counts.”
“If you really believe that, then you never deserved to call him father in the first place,” Manpreet fired back.
Following the news Jai is adopted, fans have been coming up with their own theories about who his real father is.
Many seem to think there is a sinister reason Rishi is not telling his son the truth, while one fan suggested Jai’s father will be introduced as a love interest for Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope).
Taking to Reddit to share their thoughts, user Appropriate_Cover_84 asked: “Who do you think Jai real parents are?”
carole4903 replied: “I think it will be something like he’s a result of a sexual assault.”
While Jolly_Conflict added: “That’s my guess too – mostly to knock Jai down a peg because of how angry he is at this. Whatever the news is, he’ll be so shocked and then guilty for being angry and the audience will sympathise with Rishi.
“As an adoptee myself – it’s kinda predictable. Not surprised. I feel like Jai deserves to be angry since he didn’t choose any of this. ……but if this turns out to be true I also understand why Rishi didn’t say anything since that’s just a horrible thing to have to explain.”
cheshirechris71 went on to suggest: “Perhaps Rishi will suddenly gain an estranged brother who slept with Rishi’s wife, hence him not being mentioned before?”
Lancashire-Lass responded: “Deffo this one if the spoilers of a long lost cousin who is meant to be Nicky’s new love interest are true.”
TVaddict1996 asked: “Is Manpreet old enough to be his real mum? Feels like a twist that they could throw in there.”
