Emmerdale’s Mary Goskirk faces up to her past as former lover Faye is arrested

It has been a difficult couple of months for Emmerdale’s Mary Goskirk (played by Louise Jameson) as she has recovered from the betrayal by her former lover Faye (Jane Gurnett).

However, this week it looks like there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Emmerdale spoilers have shown that next week the police tell her that Faye has been arrested and charged for what she did to her.

Unfortunately, the devious conwoman doesn’t plan on making it easy to get a conviction and Mary is shocked when police reveal that she is denying everything.

It is the last thing that Mary needs to hear as she is still haunted by what happened to her.

Faye lured Mary into a relationship with her but when they started to get closer, she gave her mixed messages.

Despite this, she later invited Mary to start a new life with her in Ecuador.

Although Mary’s daughter Rhona (Zoë Henry) wasn’t initially keen on the idea she ultimately gave her mum her blessing to go.

However, Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) was suspicious of Faye and tried to warn Mary to stay away from her.

Mary wouldn’t hear a bad word against her lover though and was ultimately left heartbroken and injured after she confronted Faye about the money from the charity auction.

Faye revealed that she made up the charity and that she was scamming her for money.

As the two women ended up in a scuffle over an envelope of money, Mary was knocked to the ground, where Faye left her bleeding with a rather nasty head injury.

At the time Emmerdale’s executive producer Jane Hudson told Express.co.uk: “We’ve got the lovely love story playing on screen for Mary and Faye. We are seeing Mary falling in love with Faye.

“It’s Mary’s first relationship since coming out and she’s been very vulnerable, she’s really put herself out there and unfortunately it’s not going to be a happy ending. Mary is gonna have her heart broken.”

“I think what is really relevant for this story is how easy it is to be scammed, how easy it is to be taken in and how easy it is for love to stop you thinking logically. No matter what age you are, we’re all vulnerable of being tricked and scammed and catfished, it’s a really heartbreaking story,” Jane concluded.

It now looks like there is yet more heartbreak in store for Mary now that she will have to face Faye in court.

Emmerdale is on ITV at 7pm Monday to Friday.
