India star batter Virat Kohli has returned for the second ODI against England at Lord’s on Thursday after bein rested for the upcoming series against West Indies.
The former Indian captain has been going through a rough patch in international cricket with his last hundred coming way back in 2019. He hasn’t been able to make much of an impact on the ongoing tour of England, as he failed in the rearranged Test and the T20I series.
England vs India: Second ODI Live Score
Kohli missed the first ODI on Tuesday due to a mild groin strain as the Indian team thrashed the hosts to win by 10 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show as he ran through the English batting order, picking up six wickets while conceding just 19 runs.
Speaking at the toss, which India won, Rohit Sharma confirmed that Kohli is back in the lineup for the match at Lord’s. The Indian skipper also decided to bowl first.
“We’re going to bowl first. Less grass for sure, but looks like there is some moisture in the pitch. Looking at the size of the ground, we thought it’s better to have a score on the board. Virat Kohli comes back in for Shreyas Iyer,” said Sharma.
The former Indian captain was rested from the 18-member squad India had named for the series against West Indies with Rohit Sharma being named as captain for the side. KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav have been included in the squad. However, their participation will depend upon the fitness of both players.
The squad for the West Indies T20I series is as follows:
Rohit Sharma (C), I Kishan, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, D Hooda, S Iyer, D Karthik, R Pant, H Pandya, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, R Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, B Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.
