Determined to bring a breath of fresh air to his brand, Sevilla-born designer Ernesto Naranjo was thinking along more sensual lines for fall 2023, and targeting a younger audience. “The collection is focused on the evolution and transformation of the brand while maintaining its DNA. We wanted to speak of sensuality but always with our elegant and artistic touch,” the designer said. Transparencies, layering, and surreal elements (starring faux fur) were the foundations of a proposal in which matching garments came in unexpected textures and combinations. “I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to make a much more sexy, daring, and warm collection. To give a twist to Ernesto Naranjo without losing our essence,” he said.
His starting point this season was the study of the female silhouette. The result is see-through pieces, designed to conjure images of Liza Minnelli or Cher, in the form of shirts with deep V-necklines, tight tops with a second-skin effect, and transparent skirts with horizontal lines on the hips that extend the natural silhouette outwards by creating a rectangular shape.
Staying true to his sustainable ethos, Naranjo gave second lives to pre-existing clothes and fabrics. “We rescued pieces from previous collections, transformed them and created new pieces with them. These are garments that can be combined with one another to build a large number of different looks.” The collection speaks of his commitment to creating a lasting style with little regard for fleeting trends.
