Errol Spence has confirmed that a welterweight unification bout with Yordenis Ugas will take place in April.
The American star was set to face Manny Pacquiao last year before Ugas took the fight at late notice and secured a sensational unanimous decision victory.
He was forced to miss the huge fight with an eye injury and has not fought since the back end of 2020 where he defeated Danny Garcia.
But now the American star has confirmed his next bout with Ugas on an Instagram live : “The fight’s in April, man down, strap season. He already know what time it is.”
Many fans and experts inside the sport are keen to see Spence take on his bitter welterweight rival Crawford who has recently prevailed over Shawn Porter.

However it appears as if a unification now looks the most likely option to take place in April this year with Spence now able to make a return to action.
The bout will take place with the WBA, WBC and IBF titles on the line with the winner likely to begin pursuit of Crawford.
Spence previously confirmed his plans to face Ugas and is eyeing a successful return after a period out with injury.
Porter who has faced both men is confident that Spence will win the bout against Ugas but has admitted his opponent could certainly find a way to prevail.
“I think Errol wins. At one point in time, I knew exactly what Yordenis Ugas was going to do and I really did, I thought, he grew not only in the moment in that fight with Manny Pacquiao and I think he learned some things about himself as well,” said Shawn Porter to the Porter Way Podcast.
“I think Yordenis Ugas is prepared to make any adjustments that he’s got to make to beat whoever is across from him. I’m actually convinced that he may find a way to beat Errol Spence Jr.
“So, I think it’s a fight that Errol wins, but I want to see what Yordenis Ugas does. I don’t know what Yordenis Ugas is coming to the ring, and I don’t know what Errol Spence Jr. is coming to the ring.

Crawford c ould now look to face undisputed light-welterweight champion Josh Taylor who is eyeing a step-up in weight after his mandatory defence against Jack Catterall.
Spence was in the arena for Crawford’s bout with Porter and was booed out of the arena by fans after the WBO champion’s victory.
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn believes that Spence will choose to move to 154lbs if he can win the unification clash against Ugas to prevent a fight with Crawford.
“ Terence Crawford is a great fighter, but I just think it’s hard for Terence because I think he’s the best welterweight in the world,” said Eddie Hearn to iFL TV.
“But at the same time, where are the fights that are going to generate the kind of money that he wants? Really, that’s Errol Spence.
“I think you’re going to see Errol Spence move up to 154 to avoid Terence Crawford. ‘Avoid’ is maybe a harsh word, but strategically avoid.
