The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers will begin a star-studded second-round series Tuesday night.
Golden State hosts Game 1 at Chase Center, where the defending champions went 33-8 during the regular season. That home-court advantage may be the deciding factor in a near toss-up.
ESPN’s Matchup Predictor sees the opening game as a close call. However, the Warriors get the slight edge with a 51.6 percent win probability.
Golden State finished the regular season with just one win more than Los Angeles, which closed strong after a busy trade deadline. The Lakers eliminated the Memphis Grizzlies in six games, while the Warriors vanquished their recent road demons with a Game 7 win over the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.
FiveThirtyEight’s model is a bit more confident in a Warriors victory than ESPN, giving the No. 6 seed a 64 percent win probability. The betting market is also backing Golden State, a 4.5-point favorite at most sportsbooks.
Stephen Curry and LeBron James, who squared off four straight times in the NBA Finals, will meet again in the Western Conference semifinals. Game 1 starts Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on TNT.
