One day before the NBA Draft, the biggest news to hit the league on Wednesday was the three-team deal between the Washington Wizards, Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics.

The deal was highlighted by Kristaps Porzingis heading to Boston and Marcus Smart being sent to Memphis. Tyus Jones is also heading to Washington as part of the three-team trade.

ESPN gave their grades for the deal, and they’ve named a clear winner among the three teams involved in the trade.

ESPN’s Kevin Felton says the Washington Wizards got the most out of the trade, giving them an A- grade.

Pelton says that the Wizards did well to shed Porzingis’ salary – the big man is due to make $36 million this year – as they pivot toward a rebuild.

Tyus Jones may not fit into the team’s long-term plans, but teams looking for a point guard could come calling with draft picks at the trade deadline next season.

One of the original versions of the trade that was discussed involved the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Wizards getting Marcus Morris Sr. as a result.

Jones is younger and generally considered a better player, so the Wizards ended up with a better return by involving the Grizzlies instead of the Clippers.

The Wizards are gearing up for a total rebuild, and this trade was the next step in their efforts after trading Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns.
