AN ATTRACTION in Europe has been dubbed the “best theme park in the world” despite not having any rides or rollercoasters.

Amusement Park Puy du Fou in France is the second most popular theme park in Europe after Disneyland Paris.

Despite having no rides or rollercoasters, it attracts more than two million people a year.

The park near Les Epesses in western France first opened in 1978 and features historical re-enactments including Viking ship battles and kings fighting over lands – all set in the Middle Ages.

After a recent visit to the park, TikTok user Themepark Explorers posted several videos featuring one of the shows.

In the footage, a large Viking ship can be seen sliding down a hill with several performers doing flips and tricks onboard.

At the bottom of the hill, the ship hits the water where it quickly becomes submerged with the performers onboard.

In a follow-up video, the ship then resurfaces out of the water with all of the actors seemingly fit and healthy.

The videos have had more than six million combined views with people raving about the amusement park in the comments.

One person commented: “Puy Du Fou is the greatest theme park in the world.”

While another person added: “I’ve been here before it was one of the best experiences ever!”

A third person added: “I loved this park, it’s such an amazing place, and the special effects are mind-blowing.”

As well as the Viking performance, there are also 19 other shows including medieval jousting and a Renaissance château.

There are also four period villages, six themed hotels, and more than 1500 animals at the park.

Entry costs €42 (£36.30) for a full-paying adult and €30 (£25.93) for children aged between three and 13.

In 2019, the amusement brand expanded its offerings when it opened Puy du Fou Espana on the outskirts of Toledo City.

Only an hour’s drive from Madrid, the park recreates 1500 years of Spanish history through huge performances.

And plans are underfoot to expand the theme park even further with news that a third site could be set to open in the UK.

Estate agent Savills confirmed that the park is looking for a 300-400 acre site in the country, and is currently looking within a 40-mile radius of Oxford.

Meanwhile, a new fairytale-themed attraction recently opened in the UK.
