This year’s winning route is an “exhilarating” trip which won’t “cost the earth” as it’s visiting affordable countries.
British tourists may find the cost of car hire has surged this year due to a shortage of cars and rising costs.

A gorgeous route along the Danube is Europe’s most affordable road trip for this summer. The trip will take in Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia and Austria.
A spokesperson from the team said: “If you want an exhilarating road trip experience but you don’t want it to cost the earth, then a drive along the Danube will leave you breathless, but not penniless.”
The 350km trip will take in the length of the Danube River with plenty of lakes to stop at along the way.
Any intrepid Britons heading to New Zealand this summer might enjoy the Thermal Explorer Highway.
The pretty route will take in geothermal wonders, mud pools and steaming geysers with affordable car hire.
Beach fans might prefer the seventh route on the list, a jaunt from Pula to Dubrovnik along the Croatian coast.
