Reanne Evans made a fine start to the Six Red World Championship qualifiers with a 6-1 thrashing of Mark Lloyd, and needs four more wins to earn a place in the final stages in Thailand.
This is the first time that the invitation event has a qualifying process, with four places available in the main tournament which runs from March 6-11 in Bangkok. The qualifying rounds run until Monday in Barnsley, with all matches played using the Six Red format. Evans’ victory was her first on the pro circuit since she earned a tour card in 2021. The 12-time World Women’s Champion faces Matthew Selt next.
BetVictor Scottish Open champion Gary Wilson scored a 6-1 success over Anton Kazakov. Mark Davis came from 5-1 down to edge out Alexander Ursenbacher 6-5, while Michael White recovered a 3-1 deficit to beat Sanderson Lam 6-5.
