Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson looks set to become Rafael Benitez’s second signing of the January transfer window, talkSPORT understands.
The 20-year-old is on the verge of joining the Toffees for a fee of £10million.
It’s the second time the club have attempted to secure the services of Patterson, having tried to sign him in the 2021 summer transfer window.
Everton’s initial £5m offer was deemed unacceptable by the Scottish champions, but their second offer of double the amount will get the deal over the line.
Patterson is keen on the move, having only played six teams in the league this season with James Tavernier currently occupying the current right-back spot at Ibrox.
The deal looks set to be completed and he will be Everton’s second signing of the month after Vitaliy Mykolenko joined from Dynamo Kiev for £17m.
Given the club’s current predicament, signings are very much needed both in terms of improving the quality of the squad as well as lifting the mood around the club.
Everton lost 3-2 to Brighton on Sunday as their woeful form under Benitez continued.
The Toffees currently sit in 15th, just eight points ahead of 18th placed Burnley.
