Everton boss Frank Lampard has revealed that England striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin injured his hamstring during his side’s Premier League clash against Leicester on Saturday but says he won’t know the extent of the damage until he receives the results of a scan. The Toffees were beaten 2-0 by the Foxes at Goodison Park as Youri Tielemans and Harvey Barnes both found the back of the net.
“We’ll scan it,” Lampard said after the match as he addressed the concerns over Calvert-Lewin. “It’s his hamstring. It’s the light end of a hamstring injury. We don’t feel like it’s a bad injury but we have to wait for the scan.”
Calvert-Lewin hobbled off just after the hour mark and was replaced by Neal Maupay before heading straight down the tunnel. And the ex-Sheffield United man is now a doubt for this winter’s World Cup in Qatar, which is set to get underway later this month.
Calvert-Lewin endured an injury-hit campaign last time around and only started 15 Premier League matches. And this time around he missed the Toffees’ first eight games after picking up a knock on the eve on the new season.

The result leaves Everton 15th in the Premier League table. And after the match, Lampard added: “In the end we came up a very good team with good individuals in good form who showed their quality at the top end of the pitch and we couldn’t find that.
“They were a good opposition. We missed some big chances – probably two of the better chances of the game – at critical moments early in the game and then early in the second half. Possession was 50-50ish. We tried to get after them a little bit when we had moments of good pressure, and [there were] moments when we were a little bit off it in that sense but against a good footballing team.”
