We start off with a woman getting soaked in the rain walking along a busy high street. Even though she is wearing all-white from head-to-toe, she decides she’s had enough and does a Vicar of Dibley into the nearest puddle.
Turns out life under the puddle is much more like the Christmases we imagine (but never actually experience). There are sequins, pub sessions with friends, giant Christmas trees and women in lingerie.
No, this didn’t just turn into your dad’s dreamscape Christmas, unless he’s as much into high waisted briefs as we are.
There’s even a cute train ride, complete with presents and even more excitingly, seats. Yes, in M&S world you can travel home for Christmas without sitting on the floor for 3 hours.
Now, where’s that puddle?
6. Disney: The Stepdad
Okay, this one left me scratching my head a little. Heart-warming, yes, but also what was the point?
This shares the story of a stepdad moving in with his new family. We see from his perspective how daunting it is blending families.
Where it gets a little confusing is the addition of a story book the children read which brings their favourite characters to life.
There’s our stepdad loitering in the doorway as the kids read a story with their mum, oh and here’s Micky and Minnie Mouse ice skating round the room completely running the moment.
Yeah, I don’t get it either.
The grand finale comes when our persistent stepdad accidentally breaks the gingerbread house, they spent so long building. Cue the tears and what would have been a ruined Christmas if this poor guy didn’t stay up all night repairing their gingerbread fort.
All is forgiven and finally he gets to read them a story, cue Olaf jumping out the screen.
Look Disney we get it, Frozen is a great – no, incredible even – but can we let this poor guy have his own moment.
5. Boots: Bags of Joy
At 3 minutes, Boots’ offering is 2 minutes too long, but it has a promising start.
