Arsenal agonisingly missed out on the Premier League title last season after spending much of the year perched on top of the table.

Keen to sustain another title challenge next season, Arsenal have already dipped into the transfer market as they look to close the gap to treble-winners Manchester City.

The Gunners are set to add Delcan Rice to their ranks, with Mikel Arteta’s men having agreed a club record £105 million deal for the West Ham captain.

And Arsenal are poised to complete a move for Dutch defender Jurrien Timber, with the club having settled on a £40 million fee with Ajax.

Let’s take stock of the completed signings Arsenal have made so far in the 2023 summer transfer window.

Kai Havertz

Havertz is Arsenal’s first – and to date only – major signing of the summer transfer window.

The German international arrived at the Emirates from London rivals Chelsea in a £65 million deal.

According to German newspaper Bild, Arsenal have ripped up their wage structure by giving Havertz £330,000 a week.

This makes him the highest-earner at the club, earning significantly more than the second highest earner Thomas Partey on just under £200,000 a week.

Chelsea only signed for Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen for £72 million in 2020, with Havertz regarded as one of the finest young players in world football when he made the move to Stamford Bridge.

The 24 year-old made 139 appearances for Chelsea across his three seasons with the club but struggled for consistency.

Havertz only contributed to 32 goals overall for the Blues, but he did score the winning goal against Manchester City in the Champions League final in 2021.

Given Havertz’s versatility on the pitch, able to play in an array of positions in the forward and midfield areas, Arsenal fans will be eager to find out how Arteta decides to deploy their latest addition.
