Evil Dead: The Game gets delayed to May

Ash and friends will fight the armies of the dead on Friday the 13th

Looks like the Evil Dead won’t be breaking out of hell just yet. Evil Dead: The Game has been pushed back a bit, and is now set to launch on May 13, 2022.

The Saber Interactive project has been delayed a few times now, most recently slipping out of 2021 and into February. Now, this new delay knocks Ash and company’s journey back into May, and oddly enough, onto a Friday the 13th date.

Though originally aiming to be a multiplayer-oriented game, last year’s delay was set to afford time for both polish and a single-player option. That way, players could take on the undead even without co-op pals.

The setup for Evil Dead: The Game sees Ash Williams join up with other series characters, like Eric the Red, Cheryl, Scotty, and Kelly Maxwell, to face off against demons. Players can also play as the unholy terrors.

In a world where co-op games, especially those featuring the undead, are quite popular, it seems like a ripe time for some Evil Dead. This latest delay will, according to the team, give them the time they need to get things “just right.”

There will be some Evil Dead news to come in the meantime. Alongside pre-order info, there’s also going to be a new trailer in February.

So while the campy horror action will take a little more time to debut, it’s probably a good thing overall. A little extra polish can help, and February is already looking like a packed month for new games. Some extra breathing room may give Ash and pals some more time to shine when May 13 rolls around.
