It’s one of the most controversial TV series on Australian television but the upcoming season of Married At First Sight could be the most scandalous after insiders revealed a shocking new twist.
After years of cheating scandals, it appears producers are set add fuel to the flames.
According to the Daily Mail, the 2023 season of MAFS will introduce a partner-swapping challenge.
An on-set source told the publication, the couples “will be tested like never before” by the new twist.
“They’ve really upped the ante this year. They made different couples swap partners for three days and it was hell for all involved,” their source said.
It is understood couples will swap partners and live with their new person, attempting to avoid temptation.
And if you’re thinking, there’s no way the experts approved this after they’ve scolded past cheaters, it turns out they gave it the thumbs up.
Yahoo Lifestyle reported how the constants felt about the new challenge and, well, they were obviously pissed.
“Producers thought the show was starting to feel stagnant with the same format and tasks each year, so they’ve completely flipped everything this time around,” their source said.
“Halfway through the experiment they introduced one twist that has never been done before, which the couples described as evil. Some participants even threatened to quit and everyone has been sworn to secrecy.”
Perth Now previously revealed local TikTok beauty queen Janelle Han has been confirmed to be one of the upcoming brides on next year’s season.
Other rumoured WA contestants include Bronte Schofield, singer Lyndall Grace, and voice-over actor Olivier ‘Ollie’ Skelton.
MAFS is set to return at the beginning of next year.
