Last week, Long Island resident Rex Heuermann was arrested over accusations of being the Gilgo Beach serial killer. In 2010, skeletal remains of four women were discovered along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach while police were conducting a search for a missing sex worker Shannan Gilbert. Heuermann has also been named the suspect in a separate killing of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, however he has pleaded not guilty to these charges.
