Former UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez was all smiles after posting $1-million bail — eight months after being arrested on an attempted murder charge.

The former mixed martial artist and professional wrestler posted bail after a lengthy hearing Tuesday afternoon, ESPN reported. Velasquez had been previously denied bail four times.

Velasquez had been behind bars since Feb. 28 after allegedly chasing down Harry Goularte in his vehicle, and shooting at the truck he was a passenger in. Goularte’s stepfather, Paul Bender, suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a bullet.

Goularte has been charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a young relative of Velasquez.

In June, Velasquez filed a civil lawsuit against Goularte claiming Goularte molested a four-year-old relative. Cops say Goularte took the child into the bathroom of a daycare centre and touched his genitals.

The child told authorities Goularte told him not to tell anyone about the sexual assault, which may have happened “100 times.” The child also told cops he saw Goularte go into the bathroom with other children as well.

“I just feel blessed, you know?” Velasquez said after being released, as reported by TMZ. “Ready to go home, be with the loved ones — family, friends.”

Velasquez, 40, vowed to make something positive out of “this terrible situation” while thanking his fans and ex-coworkers for their support.

The former fighter doesn’t have total freedom. Velasquez will have to wear a GPS tracker and is barred from coming within 275 metres of the alleged victims, ESPN reported.

Velasquez still faces 10 criminal charges, which include attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

He last fought in the UFC in 2019, losing to Francis Ngannou. He subsequently announced his MMA retirement and had a brief run as a professional wrestler in WWE, where he lost to Brock Lesnar in 2020.
