A former world boxing champ and TV pundit has been arrested after an alleged row with two teenage waitresses.
Sources claim a bust-up was sparked after Glenn McCrory was said to have insulted the pair by calling them “pet” at a £5,000-a-head VIP dinner.
The County Durham-born fighter – who won the IBF cruiserweight world title in 1989 – denies the allegations. He had been a guest of honour at the do ahead of Anthony Joshua ’s world heavyweight title fight against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.
It was held at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium last September. An official complaint about the 57-year-old ex-Sky pundit’s alleged behaviour was made to the Metropolitan Police.
He was charged in March, six months after the dinner at the London Academy of Excellence, part of Spurs’ Lilywhite House headquarters.
The former boxer – known as Geordie McCrory – appeared before Highbury magistrates last month accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words to cause harassment, alarm or distress and was bailed to appear at the same court in August.

Approached by the Sunday Mirror today McCrory, of Newcastle upon Tyne, said he could not discuss the case.
But he stressed that he would be denying the allegations strongly.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed: “The charge refers to an offence alleged to have occurred at the London Academy of Excellence in Tottenham on September 25.”
