The service currently takes holiday-goers from London to places like France, the Netherlands and Belgium.

But a brand new route could take travellers to these big European cities straight from Scotland without having to go to England first.

Midnight Trains, a French train company, has confirmed that they have plans to launch a new route from Paris to Milan as well as Venice.

They also announced that they plan to launch new routes from Edinburgh.

Not only would this connect the Scots capital to Paris, but it would also connect to Copenhagen and Berlin.

This means that Scots can jump a train to Paris and then change trains to go to either of the destinations.

And it won’t even take any time away from your day, as the service includes sleeper trains.

The state-of-the-art trains have been described as “hotels on wheels,” and even come with their own private rooms complete with private showers.

Travellers can choose between single, double or even four-bed rooms when they book up.

There is also table service and drinks from the cocktail bar – and the rooms even have on-demand films.

Speaking to the National, co-founder Romain Payet said: “We think that travellers are more and more conscious about the ecological impact of air travel and they need an alternative.

“But when travelling to and from most major European cities, they do not have this alternative.”

There is no official date for the launch of the new trains, however, they are expected to come sometime next year.
