Speaking exclusively to Mid-Day, she said, “I was furious when she found out that hers is a gender-neutral name. I was named Anjum at birth, and trust me my family and relatives took pride in choosing my name. All was fine till I was in my teens and came across men who were named Anjum too. I was so furious when I found out that it’s a gender-neutral name and anyone can be named Anjum, be it a boy or a girl. I wanted my name to be unique and not a common one and I hated it till I got to know the meaning of my name”.

She continued, “So apparently, Anjum means ‘a shining star’ in Arabic. I was thrilled to know this and have loved my name ever since. I sometimes quote myself saying ‘main to bachpan se star hoon”(smiles).  Anjum Fakih can be currently seen in Ekta Kapoor`s popular shows `Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2` and `Kundali Bhagya`.
