EXCLUSIVE: Bengali star Dev Adhikari comments on handling competition with Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jeet Madnani

Actor Deepak Adhikari is one of the most prominent actors in the Bengali film industry. He is also known as Dev Adhikari and has played pivotal roles in various movies including Projapati, Byomkesh O Durgo Rahasya, and many more. While he has not marked his Bollywood debut yet, he is a big name in the Bengali film industry.

Being a big name in the film industry, Dev Adhikari sat with us for an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble. During the chat, we asked him how does he deal with the competition in the film industry, especially with Jeetendra Madnani and Prosenjit Chatterjee.

Dev Adhikari opens up about handling competition

When asked how does he handle competition, Dev said, “Things have changed a lot. Agar ye 6-7 saal pehle poochte toh scenario alag hota. Tab hum ek hi type ke picture karte the (Scenario would have been different if you would have asked me this 6-7 years ago). We used to do action, spotboy kind of thing. Ek hi time release hota tha kabhi Eid, kabhi Durga Pooja toh kabhi Christmas (It used to release at one point of time). So I think that we also matured with time. At the same time, aaj ki tareekh me the competition is to get the audience to the theatre.“

He added, “It’s not that kiski picture kitni badi hit hui. Agar meri picture hit hoti hai toh mujhe lagta hai ke meri picture ka jo fayda hai, wo meri baad ki picture ko bhi milega (It’s not how big a hit a movie is. If my movies does well, so I feel it should also benefit my upcoming movies). Because were are keeping the habit of the audience of coming to the theatre which is very very important. So, I think that we are very happy, there’s no competition between us, between me, Jeet da, Bumba da, or anybody for that matter. I think the mutual respect is there, mutual admiration is there and things are shaping up very well in Kolkata. “

Previously, in an interview with us, actor Jeet had opened up about facing competition and had said, “At the beginning of my career there have been many hours chucked out of a television show because I could not perform. Generally, I could not perform the character so I was being very respectfully checked out of the character from the series that this is not meant for you.”
