EXCLUSIVE: Die Hart star Kevin Hart hopes to get his Reality Check comedy tour to India: ‘I’m aware of your unbelievable support’ – Bollywood Hungama

Hollywood action-comedy superstar Kevin Hart returns with yet another interesting action-comic caper Die Hart, on Prime Video. An Eric Appel directorial, Die Hart recreates the 2020 series with the same name. Packed with laughter and witty punches, the film also stars John Travolta and Nathalie Emmanuel in pivotal roles.

In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Kevin Hart says that it is interesting to return to the action-comedy genre. “This is a territory I’ve been playing for a while now from doing various different action comedies. This one’s a little different, right? This is a HartBeat Production and being able to produce and develop anything in the action space underneath your own umbrella, it feels a little different. So this one’s a little more special than the others. Also, it’s a lot of fun, right? You know, I got to team up with some really big names in this one. John Travolta, Josh Hartnett, Nathalie Emmanuel. And the goal at hand was to provide some type of international IP within the opportunity here. And I feel like you did a great job of doing that. So I’m excited for people to see it and enjoy it,” he says.

The actor plays fictitious version of himself, who sets himself on a quest to become Hollywood’s biggest action star. In order to achieve his dream, Hart joins an ‘action hero school’ run by Ron Wilcox, played by John Travolta. When asked why hasn’t producers tapped John and him before as a duo, Kevin Hart adds, “John Travolta is a real legend, right? He’s someone who has been in this business for quite some time. And we were very lucky to get him to be a part of this project. It’s a fun project. So approaching the names like himself, and doing it from the side of, ‘I would love to work with you and take the opportunity to kind of step outside of the box of the norm, and do something different and play’. John was all for it and he knocked it out of the park. What the role was written to be and what he brought to it, were two different things, we got a lot more from the role.”

The reimagined movie for Prime Video, which was previously a 10-episode series on Quibi in the U.S. back in 2020, is produced by Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Productions. When asked what is it that he looks for when it comes to developing future projects under his banner, the actor continues, “Comedy makes the world go round, right? So as a production company, me being a person attached to the higher side of comedy, I would love to be responsible for high levels of comedy IP, figuring out a way to do it, on a smaller scale as well. So, when it comes to simply driving and navigating a conversation as attached to a groundbreaking opportunity for the next generation, I would love for Heartbeat to be at the top of that list of discussions when they’re being had. If we can be responsible for finding new waves of talent, launching that talent to start them, and doing it through new cutting IP, then as big as this is something different. Die Hart is something unique. At a time when everything is being redone, and resurface, refreshed, we found a way to bring something new to the table. So we’re very lucky to have the partnership with Amazon to get the international exposure that we are now and I think it only sets us up for more wins to come in the future.”

Interestingly, as an actor and a producer, he would also like to explore India for future endeavours. He also wants to bring his comedy tour to India. The actor is on a world tour with his Reality Check shows. “You tell India that I’m aware of your unbelievable support. This is why I’m working on getting to India for an actual tour date, trying to make it make sense because I want to go out there and give you guys love back live and in person. I would love to find ways to engage with India overall. When it comes to the world of movie making, developing, sometimes the best way to give love and return is to do things on the ground up. So if I can possibly figure out ways to make India a template or a highlight, and something that Hartbeat’s producing and come there and film for a while that will be amazing,” he concludes.

The action comedy movie Die Hart will be exclusively available on Prime Video from 24 February in 240+ countries and territories worldwide.
