Huma Qureshi is grabbing the headlines for the second season of her popular web-series Maharani. While the audience is showering praises on the enthralling political-drama series, the lead actress was ‘petrified’ before sealing the deal. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Huma Qureshi revealed that she was “petrified” when she was introduced to her character Rani Bharti.

Remembering the narration of Maharani, the Gangs of Wasseypur actor said, “I was scared because this was the first script I heard when the pandemic just started. It was my first zoom narration and I remember the Sony Live team and Subhash (Kapoor) sir were in a zoom call and I was hearing it and I was like sounds interesting.
As she went on, she asserted, “but then you know of course all these conventional things that as women we are told – but this is not glam enough and this is not cool enough.” Qureshi also mentioned how she remembered someone asking her ‘why would you want to play mother to three kids?’
The 36-year-old actor then added,” I could go back and that could be my creative suggestion but is that genuinely a good creative suggestion or I’m just making that because I’m scared. Hence, I did not make that suggestion and I was like no they’ve actually written something very beautiful, and I don’t want to spoil it by bringing my personal insecurity to the table.”
After explaining the development of her character in the two seasons, Huma said, “I didn’t want it to be like oh this is a filmy version of it (Rani Bharti) and I think that’s what really connected with people.” Huma also talked about her upcoming projects, including Double XL, and Monica O, My Darling, among many others.
