You’d certainly be forgiven for having forgotten about Motorola’s Moto G Play sub-brand, seeing as the humble handsets tend to be among the most affordable members of a swiftly expanding mid-range. And while the Moto G Play (2022) does indeed offer several improvements over the 2021 edition, it retains the modest overall specs which are key to its affordability.

Powered by a Helio G37 from Mediatek — where its predecessor featured Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 460 — the new, IP52-certified G Play retains a familiar configuration, as both models sport 6.5-inch, 720 x 1600 IPS LCD’s along with identical 3GB/32GB RAM/ROM pairings.

On the back, the Android 12-powered G Play (2022) combines a 16-megapixel primary sensor and 2MP macro camera with a 2MP depth sensor, while the selfie cam clocks in at five megapixels. Power comes by way of a beefy, 10-watt-capable 5,000mAh pack, with the model here depicted in navy blue.
