Experiencing The US Open As A Guest Of The Langham And Sloane Stephens

As the last Grand Slam event of the year, the US Open at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York draws tennis fans from all over the world. It’s a massive event, from the size of Arthur Ashe Stadium, the main stage, to the action on other courts, shops, food outlets and crowds investigating all of those. A more personal experience would be to have a major player in that action act as guide. For a starting price of $35,000 during the first few days of the event, August 28-September 1, that guide could be tennis star Sloane Stephens with up to four of her player’s tickets for her first match, a signed gift from the player and special accommodations at The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue as part of a package called “The Langham Loves Tennis.” 5% of the proceeds of this package will also benefit the Sloane Stephens Foundation, a non-profit started by the tennis star which uses tennis and education to change the narrative of poverty, health inequity and educational underdevelopment.

The hotel’s part of the package includes four nights on those dates in the 1,905 square foot, two bedroom Empire State View Penthouse Suite with full on views of that landmark, Roche Bobois furniture, Maison Lacroix and Paul Smith fabrics and art by Alex Katz along with a full kitchen. Access to The Langham Club, the hotel’s guest lounge with five meal presentations, is also available for four people daily. (More nights or upgrading to the top floor Empire State Presidential Suite are also available at an additional cost.)

Guests start out with a meeting with Stephens to talk tennis, get inside information on the tournament, perhaps ask for advice on their forehands. The meeting takes place at the Langham which has been her hotel of choice while in the city for the Open the past few years. Both are favorite experiences. “There is no place like New York!” says Stephens. “I have really special memories from winning here in 2017, and I always have family and friends here to support me. The crowd at the US Open is unlike any other crowd throughout the year – they are loud and they love good tennis. The challenge can be finding the calmness and downtime in the city that never sleeps, but that’s where my stay at The Langham comes in. The US Open is always a hectic time in the calendar, so it means a lot to come back each night to such a calm environment. The staff are so thoughtful and kind, and I love stopping by The Langham Club after practice for snacks.” Before the tournament begins, she also tries to get out to the Metropolitan Museum, a landmark she recommends to all incoming guests when they’re not out at the courts in Queens.

To book this package, call The Langham, New York at +1 212 695 4005.And a special way for tennis fans to get to New York: XO in partnership with the Langham is offering seats on a shared jet charter from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airport in South Florida along with preferred rates at the hotel and 40% off executive ground transportation. Arrangements from other cities are available as well.
