Fabio Capello suggests he did not like Romelu Lukaku’s Chelsea comments

Former England boss Fabio Capello has said that he did not like Romelu Lukaku’s recent comments regarding his situation at Chelsea.

The Belgian forward, who rejoined the Blues in a club-record deal from Inter Milan in the summer, suggested that he was ‘not happy’ with his situation at Stamford Bridge.

Injuries have disrupted his first season back in west London, whilst he has not managed to find his best form in a Chelsea shirt with just seven goals in just 18 appearances in all competitions.

Whilst admitting his frustration, Lukaku also set out his intentions to return to former club Inter Milan at some point in the future.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has taken a strong stance on the striker’s comments having dropped him from the Blues’ squad for their entertaining 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

That decision came after the German had criticised the comments and the potential impact that they could have on Chelsea’s current campaign.

Talking ahead of taking on the Reds, he said: “We don’t like it of course because it brings noise we don’t need and it is not helpful.

“We don’t want to make more out of it than it actually is,” Tuchel added.

“It’s very easy to take lines out of context, it’s very easy to shorten lines, make headlines then later realise it’s not so bad and not what he meant.”

Ex-England boss Capello shares a very similar opinion to Tuchel. Probed by Gazzetta dello Sport about the current situation, the Italian gave a short but stark answer.

He said: “I don’t like it when players say things like this.”

Lukaku will hope to pacify the situation should he return to the Chelsea line-up for the midweek Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Belgian is back in Chelsea training ahead of the clash, although it remains to be seen whether he will be immediately re-introduced into Tuchel’s starting lineup.
