Facebook users logging into the social network this morning reported chaos, with their news feeds showing random posts on celebrity pages. The issue is now fixed.

There were soon multiple reports on DownDetector, with Facebook users saying they were even seeing posts on celebrity pages they don’t follow. “The weird thing is, you don’t even have to be following the celebs that are being tagged by all these ppl,” says one Facebook user.
“I got random fan posts for Queen, Ramstein and System of a down. Many of them are in Espanol,” another Facebook user named Michelle says.

So what is going on with Facebook?
Some people speculated that Facebook was hacked, but there is no evidence of this.
Facebook has now fixed the issue, which it says was caused by a configuration change. “Earlier today, a configuration change caused some people to have trouble with their Facebook Feed. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologise for any inconvenience,” Facebook owner Meta told me in an email.
The glitch didn’t look good for Facebook, which is already under increasing pressure from regulators. It comes amid falling Facebook user numbers and declining revenue after Apple’s ad tracking changes, which are leading the social network to make its feed more like TikTok’s.
There shouldn’t be any issue when you log into Facebook now. My news feed looks the same as usual.
