This year’s Fan Expo Denver plans to host the iconic stars of “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Transformers” and other pop-culture juggernauts when it arrives at the Colorado Convention Center, June 30-July 2.
Convention producers on Wednesday said they had booked “Next Generation” actors Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher), Jonathan Frakes (William Riker), Brent Spiner (Data) and Michael Dorn (Worf) — all of whom are currently on the final season of the acclaimed Paramount+ series “Picard.”
In a nod toward these conventions’ roots as comics-focused events, Fan Expo Denver will also welcome voice-actor legend Peter Cullen, who has played Optimus Prime across decades of “Transformers” cartoons and movies, and Shameik Moore, who voiced Miles Morales from the brilliant “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and its upcoming sequel.
Also new at the event: genre-movie legend and character actor Danny Trejo (“From Dusk Till Dawn”), Tara Strong (Twilight Sparkle from “My Little Pony”), Colorado’s own Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars’ “The Clone Wars” and “The Bad Batch”), Jodie Benson (the original Ariel in Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”) and more.
All of them are subject to change, of course. They join previously announced biggies such as Sam Raimi (“Evil Dead”), Christina Ricci (“Wednesday”), James McAvoy (X-Men), Katee Sackhoff (“The Mandarlorian”), Jon Bernthal (“The Punisher”), Hayden Christiansen (Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars), Neve Campbell (“Scream”), Charlie Cox (“Daredevil”), Vincent D’Onofrio (“Law and Order: Criminal Intent”), Bonnie Wright (the Harry Potter series), Chevy Chase (“SNL,” “Community”) and others.
As in previous years, the event will feature “hundreds of exhibitors, creators, and cosplayers as well as compelling programming, meet and greets, special events, kid zones and more,” organizers wrote. Denver nonprofit Pop Culture Classroom, whose founders started the event that morphed into Fan Expo Denver, will also be on hand again this year.
Adult passes to the event are already on sale for $38-$58 (single day passes) and $89 (3-day pass) via fanexpohq.com/fanexpodenver, with “youth” passes (13-17) ranging from $28 to $43, and kids under 13 costing $12 per day. Autographs, meet-and-greets and other perks cost additional money.
